Introducing the All-New 2019 Subaru Crosstrek Hybrid

The arrival of the all-new Crosstrek back in 2018 was news enough: the brand's smallest crossover had been completed redesigned to be more powerful, more efficient, more spacious, more versatile, and more feature-filled.

But then, we got even bigger news.

The Crosstrek Hybrid is back, and it got all the same treatments as its non-hybrid littermate. It's better than the short-lived first-gen Crosstrek Hybrid in just about every way.

2nd-Gen Crosstrek Hybrid vs 1st-Gen Crosstrek Hybrid

The original, first-generation Crosstrek Hybrid only ran from the 2015 MY to the 2016 MY--it was very short-lived. As Subaru's first-ever production hybrid car, it didn't have a lot of name recognition, it didn't get drastically better fuel economy than the non-hybrid version, and its higher price point.

But now, as we kick off 2019 and more people than ever are keeping an eye on their carbon footprint, a new hybrid is just what the doctor ordered.

Both models (2019 and 2016) come standard with Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive, and both offered 8.7 inches of ground clearance. Both are equipped with a standard four-cylinder BOXER engine.

But, the 2019 Crosstrek Hybrid offers up to 90 MPGe with a 17-mile all-electric range while the 2016 Crosstrek Hybrid could only boast about 34 mpg on the highway and no electric-only driving modes. The 2019 Crosstrek Hybrid features underbody covers and front and side underguards, to give you even more confidence and capability--the 2016 Crosstrek Hybrid didn't have those.

The 2016 Crosstrek Hybrid started at around $27,000. The 2019 Crosstrek Hybrid will start at around $34,995.

At this time, the Crosstrek Hybrid is not available in all states and vehicle supply is very limited. However, if you're sure that the new 2019 Subaru Crosstrek Hybrid is right for you, contact Hendrick Subaru to let us know that you're interested.
